THE HUNT
Dove shooting in Argentina is considered one of the best bird hunting experiences in the world. And in particular, Cordoba is famous for its vast agricultural fields and excellent hunting conditions. The terrain varies from open fields to rolling hills, providing diverse shooting scenarios and breathtaking landscapes.
Cordoba boasts a staggering population of doves, particularly the Eared Dove known as Paloma or Torcaza in Argentina which is very similar to its North American cousin the Mourning Dove (mourning doves are smaller and have a narrow, pointed tail, while Eared doves have a square tail). In certain regions, hunters can experience non-stop action, with flocks often numbering in the thousands. This makes for an exhilarating hunting experience, whether you’re a seasoned pro or a novice.

ArgenƟna is south of the equator, so the seasons are reversed. In other words, if it is summer here then it’s winter there and vice versa. Please check the weather in Cordoba, ArgenƟna before you go.
You can expect temperatures from April to September to have lows in the 40’s and highs in the mid 60’s. From October to March you can expect lows in the mid 60’s and highs in the upper 80’s to mid 90’s. Please pack accordingly. The dress for dinner is casual (pants/jeans and a shirt, nothing fancy).
When you arrive in Cordoba, ArgenƟna you will first go through immigraƟon, then on to the baggage claim area if you checked a bag. In the baggage claim area of the airport, a baggage handler will know you are with a hunƟng party and will usually assist the group in geƫng their luggage through customs and loaded onto the ground transportaƟon. If baggage handlers are unavailable, please proceed through customs and your guides will be waiting for you as soon as you depart the concourse. They will be looking for you and will have a sign with your parƟes’ name.
Wine and Beer are provided by the Lodge. If you prefer a parƟcular type of liquor, you will need to buy it at the duty free shops or other airport along your route.
Remember you cannot run to the store and pick up anything you might need. If you need it, bring it. We Recommend packing a change of clothes in your carry on; depending on your schedule, we may go straight to the field from the airport before going to the lodge.
White Your're There
Eye protection – shooting glasses are required. For overcast days, yellow lenses seem to be preferable. For bright, sunny days orange lenses seem to work best.
Hand protection – the best hand protection possible is a professional bird boy functioning as your loader. Shooting gloves are mandatory.
Hearing protection – earplugs or earmuffs required. Electronic inside the ear type are worth the
investment for this trip (bring extra batteries).
Shoulder protection – recoil reducing pads worn over your shirt or jacket or integrated into your shooting vest. PAST pads are standard. Slip-on butt stock pad — acts to increase the length of stock on standard issued Benelli’s or Beretta’s, which are the guns for hire in the lodges.
Skin protection – hats, sunscreen, long-sleeved shirts, and long pants. Lightweight raingear is also preferable.
Footwear – comfortable light hiking type boots.
Hydration – nothing beats water for hydration, especially when consuming wine with lunch and dinner and/or mixed drinks with your evening meal. Carbonated sodas DO NOT hydrate like water. Best advice: If you’re not urinating every 2 to 3 hours, you’re not drinking enough water.
Anti-Inflammatory Medication (NSAIDS) – is essential to take each evening. Markedly decreases the inflammatory response generated by high-volume shooting. Aleve, Advil, Motrin (over-the-counter) or Celebrex (by prescription). Using these medicines, you will wake up sore but not stiff.
Nightly massages – Don’t laugh! Most high-end lodges offer this service on a nightly basis, with rates running from approximately $70 per hour. We highly recommended this service because these specialists focus on your lower back, shoulder, neck, and hands. Two of our therapists were certified physical therapists at the local hospital. This will be the best money you’ll spend while in Argentina.
